Aktive is pleased to announce the appointment of Maya Pan to its Board of Trustees, effective 1 November 2025, announced yesterday at Aktive’s Annual General Meeting.
Ms Pan brings over a decade of experience leading product and digital marketing teams in Silicon Valley, and a personal commitment to equity, inclusion and wellbeing. Her expertise in business strategy, innovation and impact will be an asset in supporting Aktive’s vision for Auckland to be the world’s most active city. She maintains close ties to the Asian community and is a longstanding member of the Asia New Zealand Foundation’s Leadership Network.
“We are delighted to welcome Maya to the Board,” says Jason Shoebridge, Aktive Board Chair. “Maya brings strong business and social entrepreneurship skills which will be invaluable as Aktive continues to evolve and advance opportunities.
“The addition of Maya strengthens the Board’s collective expertise and reinforces our dedication to strong governance and connection to the communities we serve.”
Ms Pan says: “I am thrilled to be joining Aktive's Board to contribute to fostering inclusive participation in sport and physical activity across Tāmaki Makaurau. I look forward to working with fellow members of the Board and the whole Aktive team on this shared mission.”
Ms Pan has a Master of Laws from Stanford University and now advises startups and educational organisations on product development and AI.
Aktive’s Annual General Meeting also provided an opportunity for the Board of Aktive to acknowledge departing Board Member David Tse, having contributed nine years, the maximum term, to the Board.
“We are incredibly appreciative of David’s governance contribution which have undoubtedly helped to advance Aktive’s vision and strategic priorities over the past nine years,” says Mr Shoebridge. “We thank David for his significant contribution, expertise and valuable guidance through periods of growth and change, and we wish him every success for his future endeavours.”
Mr Tse says: “It's been a privilege to be part of the Aktive whānau and serve such a critical sector of Tāmaki Makaurau society. I am proud of what we have achieved, and with its talented Executive Team and Board, I am excited for what comes next. I wish the sector and everyone the very best for the future.”
