A highly experienced Chief Executive Officer, Jason Shoebridge is currently Chief Executive with the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research. His significant governance experience includes two terms as Deputy Chair of Sport New Zealand and Chair of its Audit, Finance and Risk Committee, as well as being a former Director of the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research and as a current or former trustee on the boards of a number of schools and charitable organisations.
Jason has consulting expertise gained in leading consulting assignments across a range of industries in New Zealand and overseas. With an MBA and a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Finance, he is a chartered accountant and member of the Institute of Directors. Jason is also currently the Chair of the Regional Sports Trust Network.
Dr. Denise Atkins is a senior lecturer and academic manager in the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at AUT University lecturing on both the North and South Auckland campus. She is a recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching award and undertakes research in the fields of Health & Physical Education, pedagogy, higher education, play and student voice.
As a previous senior advisor with the Ministry of Education, Denise worked in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Sport New Zealand and was responsible for implementing initiatives in the HPE curriculum, physical activity and teacher professional development. Denise is Chair of the ABSL Board, is a Basketball Auckland Board member and a former Chair of Drowning Prevention Auckland.
Rohini Dube is a Partner for EY New Zealand, New Zealand Leader of the People Advisory Services tax team and Board of Director for EY New Zealand companies. She is a founding member of EY Tangata Pasifika network and the organisation’s New Zealand Diversity & Inclusiveness Council.
Rohini is a Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Practitioner and holds a CAANZ Fellowship. She is also a Trustee/Board of Director for Oxfam New Zealand.
Ms Hulse stepped down as an Auckland Councillor in 2019 after a 27-year career in local government. Over this time, she held various leadership roles including Deputy Mayor of both Auckland and Waitākere cities and chair of a number of council committees, including the Environment and Community Committee which had oversight for a range of key policy platforms including provision of sport and recreation.
Building on a solid understanding of council processes and issues facing the Auckland region, Ms Hulse is a member of the Auckland Museum Trust Board, and the Board of Community Waitākere and is a member of the Koi Tu Kaitiaki forum as well as a number of community organisations.
Tom Irvine (Ngāti Whātua and Ngā Puhi) is Director – Strategic Projects with Tātaki Auckland Unlimited. He has also served as Chief Executive Officer of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Whai Maia and more recently as Acting Director of the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
Tom holds a range of governance roles spanning arts, civic, and community organisations, including Tangata Whenua Member on the Hauraki Gulf Forum and Trustee for Taumata Toi-a-Iwi.
Jada MacFie (Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, Ngāti Kauwhata and Ngāti Paoa) is the Chief Executive (Tumu Kaimahi) of Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, appointed in 2023 after several years in governance roles with the trust. She previously held senior executive positions at Tāmaki Regeneration Company, leading community connection, people experience, and equity-focused initiatives across major urban regeneration projects.
Jada is also a Global Women Break Through Leadership Scholar.
Ian has been a board member of not-for-profit organisations for the last decade, including chairing boards and finance and audit committees. He has also held executive positions in finance, operations and transformation in New Zealand and abroad.
A Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand, with an MBA and degrees in accounting and auditing, Ian further specialised in venture finance and business sustainability management with Oxbridge.
Ian is a fellow and mentor of CPA Australia and mentor of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). He has been the recipient of multiple awards, including Healthcare Excellence Awards 2011 and Chief Financial Officer Awards 2015 for financial innovation.
Ian is passionate about all sports, plays football, has completed three marathons and aspires to qualify for the Boston Marathon. He believes sport is a game-changer for individuals and therefore societies, where the positive values and ethic learned from sport are formative and indelible.
Maya has extensive experience in product strategy and development for global technology companies. She is best known for leading Meta’s consumer marketing team through the post-Cambridge Analytica rebuild, launching global comms and privacy tools to billions of users. Maya is passionate about harnessing technology to improve social outcomes and increase individual user agency. She previously led a machine learning team at Meta responsible for identifying health content and reducing health and vaccine misinformation. Prior to moving to Silicon Valley, Maya founded LawSpot, New Zealand’s first online legal advice platform. Maya has a Master of Laws from Stanford University. She maintains close ties to the Asian community through her whānau and is a longstanding member of the Asia New Zealand Foundation’s Leadership Network. Maya now advises startups and educational organisations on product development and AI.
